The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday stayed the summons issued to senior Haryana IAS officer Rajeev Arora as an accused in the Manesar land scam case. Rajeev Arora is the additional chief secretary (home, health, and family welfare).
Special CBI judge, Panchkula, Jagdeep Singh had summoned Arora on December 1 to face the trial as an additional accused for offence under Section 420 (Cheating) and Section 120B (Criminal Conspiracy). Notably, former CM of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda is the main accused.
The justice Arvind Singh Sangwan of the high court stayed the December 1 order and issued notice to the CBI seeking reply on the contentions raised by Arora in his plea.
In his plea before the HC, Arora asserted that the summoning order is an attempt to benefit the originally summoned accused. The matter will now be heard by the HC on April 30, next year.
