New Delhi/Kolkata: Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) and the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at HCL’s Corporate Office in Kolkata. The partnership aims to accelerate the recovery of copper and other critical minerals, contributing to India’s long-term mineral security while supporting industrial development.
Partnership to Enhance Mineral Recovery
The MoU outlines a collaborative approach whereby HCL and CSIR-IMMT will leverage their respective strengths, expertise, and technological capabilities to fast-track research and development in copper and critical mineral recovery. The initiative is expected to enable more efficient extraction, improve sustainability in mining operations, and enhance India’s self-reliance in critical raw materials essential for industrial and infrastructure growth.
Leadership Participation
The signing ceremony was attended by top officials from both organizations. Representing HCL were Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Chairman and Managing Director; Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Sinha, Director Operations and Director Mining (Addl. Charge); and R.V.N. Vishweshwar, Director Finance. From CSIR-IMMT, the event was graced by Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director, and Dr. Kali Sanjay, Chief Scientist and Head of the Hydro, Bio, and Electrometallurgy Department, along with other senior officials.
