HLL Lifecare Limited, a prominent Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has officially entered its Diamond Jubilee year, commemorating 60 years of service in India’s healthcare sector. The year-long celebrations were inaugurated during the company’s annual Factory Day event at its manufacturing facility in Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram.

Dr. Anitha Thampi, Chairman and Managing Director of HLL Lifecare, led the celebrations and expressed her pride in the company’s achievements. “It is a moment of great pride for HLL, a public sector enterprise, to be stepping into its 60th year. Our Diamond Jubilee marks not only a significant milestone but also a renewed commitment to expanding our footprint across the entire spectrum of healthcare,” Dr. Thampi remarked.

As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, HLL Lifecare outlined ambitious plans for future growth, including diversification into new areas such as food and nutrition, mental health, and veterinary care. The company also announced nationwide symposiums led by health experts and year-long public health outreach programs aimed at benefiting communities across the country.

Founded on March 1, 1966, HLL began its journey by manufacturing condoms and has since evolved into a key player in India’s healthcare ecosystem. Its first factory in Peroorkada opened on April 5, 1969. Today, HLL markets over 70 products and has expanded into several critical areas including infrastructure development, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, procurement consultancy, hospital construction, and research and development.

Some of its notable initiatives include Hindlabs, which offers affordable diagnostic imaging services; AMRIT Pharmacies, providing low-cost medicines, implants, and life-saving equipment; and HLL Opticals, among other healthcare services. Additionally, HLL runs important public health initiatives such as waste management and menstrual hygiene programs.

With eight state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and 22 regional offices across India, HLL Lifecare manages over 200,000 retail outlets and exports its products to more than 80 countries. The company also oversees five subsidiaries, strengthening its global presence.

The Factory Day celebrations also included a flag-hoisting ceremony and the inauguration of a newly constructed walkway for employees. Senior officials from HLL Lifecare, including Director (Marketing) N. Ajith, Senior Vice President (T&O) and GBBDD (In-Charge) V. Kuttappan Pillai, Peroorkada Unit Chief L.G. Smitha, and Senior HR Head Ramesh Mohan, were present at the event.
