Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived at Jagdalpur to pay tribute to the security personnel martyred in Saturday’s encounter with Maoists along the Sukma-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel received the union minister ahead of which the wreath-laying ceremony of 14 security personnel was held.
While conducting the ceremony, Mr. Shah said “I pay tribute to these brave security personnel on behalf of the PM, central government and the country. Their contribution in fighting the naxals will always be remembered”. He added, “A review meeting was held with Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and officers of security forces. As per the officers this fight should not weaken, which signifies that the morale of the security forces in intact.”
The minister also insured that this battle with the Naxals will be intensified and we will win at the end.
On Saturday 3 April, an anti-Naxal encounter broke out along the Sukma-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh. As per the officials, Naxalites ambushed the security forces during the operation. As many as 22 jawans lost their lives and 31 got injured who were immediately referred to the hospital in Raipur.
Chhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) DM Awasthi and CRPF DG Kuldiep Singh confirmed that the dead bodies of 22 jawans have been recovered.
