HPCL Hosts CSIR Delegation at Bengaluru Green R&D Centre, Signs MoU on Advanced CO₂ Capture Technology

Collaboration to focus on indigenous innovation, process intensification, and next-generation carbon capture solutions, strengthening India’s green energy and sustainability initiatives.

New Delhi/Bengaluru: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) recently hosted a distinguished delegation from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), led by Dr. (Mrs.) N. Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR & Secretary, DSIR, at the HPCL Green R&D Centre (HPGRDC) in Bengaluru. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between HPCL and CSIR laboratories to advance indigenous innovation and develop cutting-edge technology programs.

Engagement with CSIR Laboratories

During the visit, senior leaders and scientists from multiple CSIR laboratories engaged with HPCL researchers to explore joint initiatives in energy, sustainability, and green technology. Discussions focused on promoting homegrown solutions in energy efficiency, environmental protection, and advanced hydrocarbon processing.

MoU Signed on Advanced Carbon Capture Technology

A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between HPCL and CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT). The MoU focuses on “Process Intensification of CO₂ Capture by Absorption using Hollow Fibre Membrane Contactor Technology,” a next-generation approach designed to enhance the efficiency of carbon capture and support HPCL’s sustainability and decarbonization goals.

Tour of HPGRDC and Townhall Address

The CSIR delegation also toured HPGRDC’s state-of-the-art R&D facilities, witnessing ongoing research in green fuels, process intensification, and alternative energy technologies.
Dr. Kalaiselvi addressed HPCL employees in a townhall session, highlighting the importance of industry-academia partnerships in driving innovation, sustainability, and technological self-reliance.
