New Delhi: The government has appointed Ajay Bhadoo, Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). According to an official statement issued on Wednesday, Bhadoo will assume the new role while continuing to carry out his existing responsibilities within the department.
Bhadoo, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1999 batch from the Gujarat cadre, brings over two decades of experience in policy formulation and implementation across various sectors, including urban infrastructure development. In August 2024, he was appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce.
The GeM platform, launched on August 9, 2016, facilitates online purchases of goods and services by all central government ministries and departments, aiming to streamline public procurement processes and promote transparency.
With his vast experience and expertise, Bhadoo is expected to further strengthen the operations of GeM as it continues to play a key role in the government’s procurement system.
