Akash Tripathi, the CEO of MyGov and an IAS officer of the 1998 batch from Madhya Pradesh, has been granted a six-month extension as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Digital India Corporation (DIC). The extension, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, will remain effective from October 1, 2024, to May 1, 2025.
The decision, communicated through an order by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday, follows a request from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for the continued leadership of Tripathi at the helm of DIC, a key agency overseeing India’s digital transformation.
In a significant administrative reshuffle earlier this month, Tripathi was transferred to the Ministry of Power as Additional Secretary, as part of the Modi government’s broader restructuring of senior bureaucrats. However, despite this change in assignment, Tripathi has not been relieved of his duties at MyGov or Digital India Corporation. He continues to hold both roles concurrently, balancing his responsibilities between the Ministry of Power and the digital initiatives aimed at enhancing the country’s technological infrastructure.
The extension of his tenure at DIC highlights the government’s confidence in Tripathi’s leadership in the ongoing efforts to promote digital governance and innovation under the Digital India mission.
