Mr. Anjaneya Singh, a 2005-batch Sikkim cadre IAS officer, has completed his deputation tenure in Uttar Pradesh. Serving as the Commissioner of Moradabad division, his deputation officially ended on August 14. Following this, he handed over charge to Moradabad District Magistrate Mr. Anuj Singh and proceeded on leave.

Long Deputation Since 2015
Mr. Singh came to Uttar Pradesh on deputation in 2015 and initially served as District Magistrate of Rampur. Known for his uncompromising administrative approach, he gained state-level recognition for taking stern action against former minister Mr. Azam Khan. His deputation, which was originally for five years, was extended multiple times at the request of the state government—first for two years, then one year, and again in August 2024 for a fourth extension of one year. The latest extension concluded on August 14, 2025.
Landmark Decisions in Rampur
During his tenure as Rampur DM, Mr. Singh made several impactful decisions that brought him into the political and administrative spotlight. His strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, including action against associates of Mr. Azam Khan, was widely noted. Based on his report, the Election Commission of India cancelled the membership of Abdullah Azam, son of Mr. Azam Khan.
Reputation as a Tough Administrator
Mr. Singh’s handling of sensitive cases, particularly in Rampur, made him a prominent figure in Uttar Pradesh’s administrative circles. Before every election, there were repeated demands from the Samajwadi Party for his removal from the Moradabad Commissioner post, reflecting his firm stance against political pressures. Following his tenure in Rampur, he was elevated to Commissioner of Moradabad Division, where he continued his reputation for decisive governance.
Roots in Mau
Mr. Singh hails from Salahabad village in Mau district. His father, Dr. Mahendra Singh, retired as Head of the Geography Department and Chief Proctor of DCSK PG College, Mau. His personal and professional journey reflects a blend of strong academic grounding and administrative diligence.
