Lucknow: The central government has officially relieved IAS officer Anjaneya Kumar Singh (2005 batch, Sikkim cadre) from his deputation in Uttar Pradesh, sending him back to his parent cadre, Sikkim, after nearly 11 years of service in the state. Singh has held several key administrative positions in Uttar Pradesh, contributing significantly to governance and development during his tenure.
Key Administrative Roles in Uttar Pradesh
Mr Singh joined Uttar Pradesh on deputation on February 16, 2015, initially taking charge as Special Secretary in the Irrigation & Water Resources Department and CEO of the Integrated Water Management Project. He also managed responsibilities as the Administrator of the Sharda Sahayak Project.
On July 25, 2016, Mr Singh was appointed District Magistrate (DM) of Bulandshahr. Later, he served as Additional Commissioner in the Commercial Tax Department. From June 2018 to February 2019, he took over as DM of Fatehpur, and from February 2019 to March 2021, he served as DM of Rampur.
In March 2021, Mr Singh was promoted to Divisional Commissioner of Moradabad, a role he fulfilled until 2025. His leadership in these districts and administrative divisions marked important phases of governance, law and order maintenance, and developmental initiatives.

Impact and Contributions
Throughout his deputation in Uttar Pradesh, IAS Singh was known for his hands-on approach in district administration and efficient management of critical projects related to irrigation and taxation. His nearly four-year stint as Divisional Commissioner of Moradabad helped steer the division through various administrative challenges and developmental priorities.
Landmark Decisions in Rampur
During his tenure as Rampur DM, Mr Singh made several impactful decisions that brought him into the political and administrative spotlight. His strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, including action against associates of Mr. Azam Khan, was widely noted. Based on his report, the Election Commission of India cancelled the membership of Abdullah Azam, son of Mr. Azam Khan.
Return to Parent Cadre
With the completion of his deputation, IAS Singh will now return to Sikkim cadre, where he is expected to bring his extensive administrative experience gained in Uttar Pradesh to his home state.
Roots in Mau
Mr. Singh hails from Salahabad village in Mau district. His father, Dr. Mahendra Singh, retired as Head of the Geography Department and Chief Proctor of DCSK PG College, Mau. His personal and professional journey reflects a blend of strong academic grounding and administrative diligence.
