New Delhi: The Central Government has officially approved the appointment of Prashant Sharma, an IAS officer of the 2012 batch, as the General Manager of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) for the Lucknow Region, under the Department of Food and Public Distribution. Sharma, who is currently serving as the Special Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s Energy Department, will take up his new assignment on deputation under the Central Staffing Scheme.
According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on March 18, Sharma has been appointed to the position for a period of three years, effective from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier. The order also mentions that Sharma should be relieved of his current duties immediately in order to begin his new role at FCI.
Sharma, an officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, brings his extensive experience in public administration to his new role, where he will oversee FCI’s operations in the crucial Lucknow region.
The transfer is part of the ongoing reshuffling within key government positions aimed at bolstering public service delivery and governance across the country.
