The Reserve Bank of India has officially approved the appointment of Pradeep Kumar Sinha, a retired IAS officer from the 1977 batch (UP cadre), as the Part-time Chairman of ICICI Bank.
Mr. Sinha will succeed Girish Chandra Chaturvedi, a former top bureaucrat, who is set to retire as Non-Executive Part-time Chairman on June 30, 2024.
Mr. Sinha’s appointment as Chairman will be for a term of three years, starting from July 1, 2024.
He retired as Union Cabinet Secretary on September 12, 2019, and subsequently served as Principal Adviser in the Prime Minister’s Office under PM Narendra Modi. He has an extensive background in public service, having served as Union Power Secretary and as a Government Nominee Director for major PSUs including ONGC, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, and GAIL.
He has held board positions at Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) for about seven years, and at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for approximately six years each.
