Abhimanyu Kumar, an IAS officer from the 2011 batch of Rajasthan cadre, has been re-designated as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Kumar, who is currently serving as the Private Secretary to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has been promoted from the Deputy Secretary level. This re-designation was confirmed by an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on January 8, 2025.
The order, signed by the competent authority, specifies that Abhimanyu Kumar’s new designation will take effect from the date he assumes the charge of the post. His tenure will last until January 16, 2027, or until the completion of his duties with the Minister, whichever comes first. His term may also end earlier if he ceases to function as the Private Secretary to the Home Minister or upon further orders.
Abhimanyu Kumar’s central deputation began on January 17, 2021, and this move marks a significant step in his career, reflecting his growing role in the Ministry of Home Affairs under Minister Amit Shah.
