An IAS officer posted as the Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh in Odisha’s Kalahandi district was caught red-handed on Sunday by the Vigilance Department while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh from a local businessman.
According to an official release, the officer, believed to be in his mid-30s, had reportedly demanded a total of ₹20 lakh and was accepting the first installment when the vigilance team acted. The bribe money was received at his official residence and stashed inside a table drawer.
Following the arrest, officials carried out searches at his government quarters, leading to the recovery of ₹47 lakh in cash. A formal case has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway.
