IAS officer Dr. Hari Om has been selected for the prestigious ‘Naushad Samman’ of Uttar Pradesh. The list of awardees has been released by the ‘Hunar Creation’ on 15th November. It includes popular singer Shaan along with music director Mithoon, sitar player Imran Khan, Dr. Om with four others.
The awards will be given in Awadh Festivals organised on 30th November. IAS officer and Ghazal singer Dr. Om is honoured with this award and is grateful. “It’s indeed a matter of deep pride to receive Naushad Samman for my contribution to Hindustani music. I have always been inspired by Naushad’s compositions n it’s melody. Since my childhood Moghul-e-Azam, Mother India, Aan, Baiju Bawara, Ganga Jamuna n many more such films had an immense musical impact on my mind as singer n composer. The dense folk touch makes Naushad a beloved in our very own Awadh Region. His melody is immortal so is his name. I thank d organisers for selecting me for this Award. It’s an honour”, he told Indian Masterminds.
A song writer and singer Dr. Om is passionate about music. However, his career took him towards civil services. He is IAS of 1997 batch currently posted as Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Deptt & Director- Minority Welfare .
