New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Rahul Bhanudas Mali (2016 batch, Nagaland cadre) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Women & Child Development (WCD), Government of India. His tenure in the position will be for a period of four years, as per the official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday.
The appointment will be effective from the date he assumes charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
Central Posting Under Staffing Scheme
Mali, a 2016-batch officer from the Nagaland cadre, will now operate under the Central Staffing Scheme, which enables officers from state cadres to serve in central government ministries. In his new role, he will contribute to shaping and implementing national-level policies and programs for the welfare of women and children.
This assignment marks a significant step in Mali’s career and comes at a time when the Ministry is focusing on critical issues like child nutrition, safety of women, and empowerment schemes under flagship programs such as POSHAN Abhiyaan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and the Saksham Anganwadi Scheme.
About the Officer
Mr Mali is known for his administrative capabilities and policy acumen. Prior to this appointment, he has held key roles in Nagaland’s state administration, including in departments related to planning and development.
His move to the WCD Ministry is expected to strengthen the execution of gender and child-focused initiatives across the country, particularly in the integration of field-level insights into national planning.
