New Delhi: The central government has approved the premature repatriation of Anirudh Kumar (IRSME: 1995), who was serving as Joint Secretary at the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA) under the Department of Food and Public Distribution. The decision was formalized in an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday.
Mr Anirudh’s repatriation to his parent cadre has been cleared by the competent authority, with the imposition of an extended cooling-off period. This move marks an early conclusion to his tenure at WDRA, which began in August 2024 with a scheduled five-year term.
Anirudh’s Early Return Marks Significant Bureaucratic Shift
Appointed in August 2024 as Joint Secretary of WDRA, Mr Kumar’s premature repatriation is a notable development, given the substantial tenure originally envisaged for the post. The extended cooling-off condition implies a mandatory gap before Kumar can assume another deputation or similar assignment.
This development is expected to have repercussions within the bureaucratic framework, especially within the Department of Food and Public Distribution and the IRSME cadre.
Shailendra Kumar Promoted to Apex Pay Scale in AGMUT Cadre
In a related development, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has promoted Shailendra Kumar (IAS: 1995, AGMUT cadre) to the Apex pay scale (Level-17 in the Pay Matrix), effective from September 1, 2025.
Mr Shailendra is currently serving in the AGMUT cadre and his promotion to the highest pay level recognizes his seniority and contributions in service.
Outlook
These administrative movements underscore the ongoing personnel reshuffling in key government departments, reflecting the dynamic nature of India’s civil service appointments.
