Bhopal, MP: The charge of Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of Omkareshwar Municipal Council has officially been handed over to trainee IAS officer of 2024 batch, Dr. Shrikrushna Sushir. Dr. Sushir is currently serving as the Assistant Collector in Khandwa and also holds the additional post of CEO of Khandwa Janpad Panchayat.
Following the directive from the Urban Administration Commissioner, Dr. Sushir is scheduled to take charge on Tuesday afternoon after paying a visit to the sacred Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple.
Former CMO Sanjay Geete Steps Down
Earlier, Sanjay Geete, who had been serving as the CMO of Omkareshwar Municipal Council, voluntarily applied to be relieved from his duties. A Revenue Sub-Inspector by designation, Geete cited personal reasons for his decision to step down.
Following his application, the Urban Administration Department issued an order relieving him of his CMO responsibilities, and he has now been attached to the Indore Divisional Office.
Urban Administration Department Issues New Orders
In response to Geete’s request, the Urban Administration Commissioner swiftly approved the transfer and facilitated a seamless transition of responsibility. The department’s quick action underscores its focus on ensuring continuity in local governance and effective supervision of developmental works in the temple town.
IAS Appointments Ahead of Simhastha 2028
Sources indicate that the recent posting is part of a broader administrative plan to bolster governance and development in Omkareshwar ahead of Simhastha 2028.
Several major infrastructure and civic development projects are being planned to prepare the holy town for the upcoming religious mega-event.
To ensure timely execution and high-level coordination, the administration has now appointed IAS officers at both SDM and CMO levels, signaling a strategic move to strengthen administrative efficiency in the region.
