The appointment, announced on Tuesday, is made under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of four years, starting from the date Joshi assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Ms Joshi’s selection comes after a formal recommendation by the Department of Economic Affairs for central deputation, and she has been directed to relieve herself of her current duties immediately to take up the new role at the CIC.

Her tenure in various critical positions has equipped her with the necessary skills to contribute significantly to the CIC’s mission of ensuring transparency and accountability in public governance.
At the Central Information Commission, Ms Joshi will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, which is fundamental in promoting an open and transparent government. The CIC plays a vital role in safeguarding citizens’ right to information and resolving disputes between public authorities and applicants under the RTI framework.
A Key Appointment for the CIC
The CIC, one of the most critical institutions in India’s governance structure, has been instrumental in upholding transparency, accountability, and good governance in the country. As the Deputy Secretary, Ms Joshi is expected to bring new perspectives and drive efficiency in the Commission’s processes, ensuring that public authorities are held accountable and citizens’ access to information is streamlined.
