In a strategic move to improve administrative efficiency and enhance environmental governance, the Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department of Odisha has announced a major reshuffle of Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers across various divisions. The transfers, notified officially on August 2, 2025, reflect the state government’s continued focus on ecological management, biodiversity conservation, and agricultural diversification.
Mr. Karthick V. Retains Additional Charge
Senior officer Mr. Karthick V. (2009 batch) will continue to hold additional charge as Chief Conservator of Forests (Monitoring, Evaluation & Internal Work), ensuring operational continuity in monitoring and evaluation tasks critical to forest administration.
Key Transfers Across Forest Divisions
Mr. Jagayandatt Pati (2012 batch), previously serving as Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Athagarh, has been elevated and posted as Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (RCCF), Koraput Circle.
Mr. Katunge Gorakh Waman (2013 batch), who held charge as DFO, Sambalpur, has been appointed as Director, Horticulture, Odisha. This change signals the government’s intent to strengthen its agri-horticultural initiatives.
Mr. Jadhav Sudarshan Gopinath (2018 batch) moves from his position as DFO, Mangrove (Wildlife), Rajnagar, to take charge as DFO, Sambalpur.
Ms. Rashmi G. (2022 batch) has been transferred from her previous post at Titilagarh (KL) to serve as DFO, Deogarh.
Mr. Varadaraj Gaonkar (2022 batch) will now take over as DFO, Mangrove (Wildlife), Rajnagar, a critical coastal and ecological zone in the state.

These transfers are expected to revitalise forest management and streamline departmental functions, with an emphasis on environmental sustainability and efficient service delivery across Odisha’s forest divisions.
