Amidst a recent development, the Central Zoo Authority appointed a senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, Dr. Sanjeet Kumar, a 2009 batch IFS officer of Odisha cadre, as the new director of the Delhi Zoo, relieving Ms Akanksha Mahajan, a 2003 batch IFS officer of Rajasthan cadre, of her additional charge.
Ms Mahajan shall continue to assume office as the DIG in the Central Zoo Authority.
Dr. Kumar was transferred to Delhi on a central deputation basis and shall hold the director’s office for five years or until further notification, whichever transpires earlier.
