The charge sheet that the state government had given to IFS officer Dr. Abhilasha Singh was dismissed by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in Nainital because it was improperly approved by the chief minister. After the then-district magistrate of US Nagar recommended it, Singh, who is currently working as deputy director at Govind Pasu Vihar in Uttarkashi, received the charge sheet from the government in 2022 regarding Tehsil Divas’ disappearance.
Singh told CAT that the charge sheet was released without first consulting the forest department while she was on maternity leave at the time. The administration admitted that the CM had not approved the charge sheet.
Singh, who was Terai Central’s divisional forest officer at the time, was charged with insubordination for failing to publish the Ganga Action Committee meeting minutes and for missing Tehsil Divas on August 10, 2022. She made it clear in her CAT affidavit that she was on maternity leave during Tehsil Divas and that her department was not consulted before sending the charge sheet.
The charge sheet was overturned by the CAT bench, which is made up of administrative member Chhabilendra Raul and judicial member Manish Garg. However, Singh was instructed to reply to the show cause notice within a month.
