The deputation tenure of Hemant Kumar Meena, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer from the 2011 batch, has been extended for an additional year as Deputy Secretary in NITI Aayog.
This extension was approved by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet and announced in an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on October 15, 2024.
Mr. Meena’s new tenure will now extend beyond August 4, 2024, lasting until August 4, 2026, marking a total of seven years in a deputation role outside his home cadre. His continued presence in NITI Aayog is expected to contribute to the formulation and implementation of key policy initiatives as the organization navigates ongoing challenges and objectives in governance and development.
