New Delhi: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met with Major General (Res.) Amir Baram, Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Defence, for a high-level bilateral dialogue in the capital on Tuesday. The talks marked a renewed push towards bolstering the India-Israel strategic defence partnership with long-term vision and institutional depth.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation in defence technology, industry collaboration, and security strategy. They agreed to work towards establishing a structured institutional framework that would enable systematic deepening of bilateral defence ties in the years ahead.

Mutual Condemnation of Terrorism Strengthens Diplomatic Solidarity
An important moment of the meeting came when the Israeli delegation strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, expressing unequivocal solidarity with India. Major General Baram conveyed Israel’s unwavering support for India’s efforts to combat terrorism.
In a reciprocal statement, Defence Secretary Singh reaffirmed India’s zero-tolerance stance towards terrorism and condemned the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel. He also emphasized India’s position calling for the immediate release of all hostages still held from that assault.
Progress Reviewed on Ongoing Collaborations
Both sides took stock of the progress made in bilateral defence engagements since the last Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting held in July 2024 in India. The review spanned various ongoing projects and highlighted mutual efforts to align strategic objectives, particularly in emerging technologies and joint defence production.
The visit by Israel’s Director General to New Delhi signals an important step in the evolution of India-Israel defence ties. It reinforces a shared commitment to elevate the partnership beyond transactional cooperation, into a resilient strategic alliance built on shared democratic values and common security concerns.
