The review proceedings were presided over by Vice Admiral K. Swaminathan, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS), who also chairs the Indian Navy’s Safety Committee.

Launch of Safety Trend Analysis Tool (STAT)

One of the major highlights of the review was the launch of the Safety Trend Analysis Tool (STAT), a digital application developed collaboratively by the Indian Naval Safety Team (INST), Kochi and the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N). The tool aims to enhance safety management through data-driven insights and trend analysis.

Pan-Navy Engagement and Deliberations

Representatives from all Commands of the Indian Navy, including the Andaman and Nicobar Command and various Safety Class Authorities, presented updates on their safety initiatives, ongoing challenges, and forward-looking strategies. A compendium of safety and risk management initiatives undertaken across the Navy was also released during the event.

The two-day brainstorming sessions featured comprehensive discussions on agenda points related to safety culture, risk mitigation, and best practices, reflecting the Navy’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety across its operations.

Strengthening Naval Safety Culture

The Annual Safety Review serves as the Navy’s apex-level platform for institutional safety assessment and strategy, promoting a robust organisational framework for continuous safety improvement. Through these sustained efforts, the Indian Navy aims to fortify its operational resilience and reinforce safety as a core value in all naval activities.
