New Delhi: In a resounding affirmation of India’s growing health-conscious public sector culture, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) across the country celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga with massive participation, aligning with this year’s global theme: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
The celebration was led nationally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. His address, streamed live across various PSU offices, set the tone for the day as employees, families, and stakeholders united in yoga practice, highlighting a commitment to physical wellness, mental resilience, and environmental harmony.
REC Limited: Holistic Health at Corporate and Regional Levels
REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power, hosted sessions at its Gurugram Corporate Office and all regional offices. Notably, international marathon champion Sunita Godara shared tips on integrating fitness into daily life. Yoga professionals from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga led the asana sessions.
SJVN Limited – Shimla & Beyond
SJVN Ltd. celebrated Yoga Day across its corporate headquarters in Shimla and multiple project sites. Shri Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), inaugurated the event at Shimla, leading the Common Yoga Protocol. Employees and contractors in remote hydroelectric sites also participated in local yoga sessions, reinforcing the organization’s emphasis on wellness in remote operations.
POWERGRID – Lucknow ECM Session
POWERGRID integrated yoga into its Executive Committee Meeting (ECM) in Lucknow, where the CMD and senior management performed asanas with employees and families. Regional hubs across the network tuned into the live broadcast, enabling a shared experience and reinforcing corporate unity through wellness.
Coal India Ltd. (CIL) – Odisha Gathering
At the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) headquarters in Sambalpur, around 700 participants—including coal miners, office personnel, families, and local school students—converged for a mass yoga session. Shri Uday Anant Kaole, CMD of MCL, and Shri Mukesh Choudhary, Director (Marketing & Business Development) of CIL, led asanas and shared thoughts on yoga’s role in miner health, safety, and productivity.
WCL’s 7,000+ Participants Across 114 Locations
Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) held yoga programs at 114 locations, including heritage sites like Ramtek Temple, Nagpur Zero Mile, and Savner Eco Park. The main event at Chhatrapati Shivaji Stadium, Umred, saw over 800 participants, with CMD Shri J.P. Dwivedi encouraging regular yoga practice. Public engagement was further driven by rewarding employees for yoga video submissions.
KIOCL’s Corporate Commitment to Mind-Body Wellness
KIOCL Limited celebrated the day at its Pellet Auditorium, with CMD Shri G.V. Kiran, senior leadership, and Kudremukh Township employees in attendance. Yoga instructor Shri Raghunath conducted sessions, and the digital magazine “Shrigandha” was launched to promote yoga literacy.
THDC India Limited: Yoga as a Daily Lifestyle
THDCIL, a Mini Ratna PSU, observed the day at its Rishikesh headquarters, led by CMD Shri R.K. Vishnoi. In his address, he praised yoga’s power to bring discipline and inner strength. Directors Shri Shallinder Singh and Shri Bhupender Gupta opened the event, underscoring yoga’s global reach.
NTPC WR-I and Talcher Kaniha Focus on ‘Yoga for Self and Society’
At NTPC Western Region-I HQ (Mumbai), employees gathered at Powai Township under the guidance of instructor Ms. Anu, with Smt. Vandana Chaturvedi speaking on yoga’s role in NTPC’s workplace culture.
NTPC Talcher Kaniha organized a vibrant session led by Yoga Guru NTPC Kaniha, attended by top executives including Executive Director Shri K. Narasimha Reddy and GMs from various departments. Artistic yoga demonstrations with music added cultural flair.
NLC India’s Record Gathering of 10,000 Participants
NLC India Limited (NLCIL) made headlines by mobilizing 10,000 participants across Bharathi Stadium, industrial units, and schools in Neyveli, the largest gathering among coal PSUs. CMD Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli led the session alongside functional directors. A symbolic Asoka tree planting further reinforced the day’s message of peace and sustainability.
MOIL – Nagpur Office Initiative
MOIL Ltd. hosted its celebrations in Nagpur under the national theme. CMD Mr Ajit Kumar Saxena, along with Director (Finance) Shri Rakesh Tumane and Director (Commercial) Ms. Rashi Singh, guided employees through energizing yoga routines, emphasizing mental focus and workplace well-being.
MECL – Mahai Project Campus
The MECL Mahai Project, known for its mineral exploration and consultancy works, held its yoga event on-site. Employees and their families practiced pranayama and meditation, with the local leadership team coordinating thematic discussions on stress relief, work-life balance, and the role of yoga in sustaining productivity in field environments.
