Jashpurnagar: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai celebrated International Yoga Day with thousands of citizens at Ranjita Stadium, Jashpur, marking a day of wellness, awareness, and development. The event witnessed the participation of school children, yoga instructors, public representatives, and local dignitaries, reinforcing the significance of yoga for a healthy society.

India’s Ancient Wisdom on the Global Stage

The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving global recognition to yoga by initiating International Yoga Day at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. “It is a matter of great pride that 175 countries now resonate with the message of yoga,” he said.

Under the guidance of certified yoga instructors, attendees performed various asanas, including Chakrasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Kapalbhati, Anulom-Vilom, Pranayama, and Vajrasana.

Mr Sai encouraged people to incorporate yoga into their daily routines, emphasizing its benefits in physical, mental, and spiritual health. He also urged citizens to prefer generic medicines over branded ones, citing affordability and accessibility, especially for the underprivileged.

Development Initiatives Worth ₹108 Crore Launched

The Chief Minister also performed Bhoomi Pujan and inaugurated development works worth a total of ₹107.81 crore across the region. These include-

  • Bhoomi Pujan of 85 works worth ₹61.20 crore in Jashpur Assembly constituency
  • Inauguration of 6 completed projects worth ₹15.80 crore
  • In Farasbahar (Kunkuri Assembly), Bhoomi Pujan of 15 works (₹24.90 crore) and inauguration of 4 works (₹5.91 crore)

Nalanda Campus to Empower Rural Aspirants

On this occasion, the CM also laid the foundation stone for a new Nalanda Campus, a 500-seater educational complex to be built over 2 acres at a cost of ₹11.29 crore. He said that this campus would benefit students from rural and economically weaker backgrounds, who often struggle to migrate to bigger cities for education.

Every district headquarters and major town in the state will soon have a Nalanda Campus,” he announced.

Green Message: Plant a Tree in Your Mother’s Name

Adding a personal and emotional touch, Shri Sai appealed to all citizens to plant a tree in their mother’s name during the ongoing monsoon. He stressed the importance of lifelong commitment to protecting the sapling, symbolizing love for both mother and nature.

Honoring Yoga Trainers and Special Participants

The Chief Minister felicitated yoga instructors and trainers with certificates and mementos. One of the highlights was a disabled girl’s yoga performance, which inspired many through her resilience and skill in performing challenging asanas.

Social Welfare Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade addressed the crowd, highlighting this year’s Yoga Day theme: “One Earth, One Health“. She emphasized yoga’s inclusiveness and its role in promoting both environmental and human health.

Jashpur: A Natural Yoga Haven

Roop Narayan Sinha, Chairman of the Yoga Commission, described Jashpur’s valleys as ideal for practicing yoga, likening its environment to paradise. The region, known for its tea, cashew, and pear cultivation, was praised for its natural beauty and ecological balance.
