New Delhi: In a significant digital leap, Indian Railways has launched ‘RailOne’, a unified mobile application aimed at enhancing passenger convenience by offering a single-window platform for all railway-related services. The app was inaugurated by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during the 40th Foundation Day of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
IRCTC, which continues to hold exclusive rights for reserved ticket bookings, will remain integrated within the app’s system. RailOne acts as a comprehensive digital layer, consolidating multiple services currently scattered across various platforms.
All-in-One Digital Solution
The RailOne app merges essential functionalities that were previously spread over apps like IRCTC Rail Connect, UTSonMobile, Rail Madad, and NTES. Key offerings include:
- Reserved ticket booking through IRCTC integration
- Unreserved and platform ticket booking (with 3% discount)
- Live train tracking, PNR status & coach position
- Grievance redressal via Rail Madad
- R-Wallet integration for cashless transactions
- E-catering, porter and last-mile taxi booking
- Biometric and mPIN login, plus guest access
- Single Sign-On (SSO) using IRCTC or UTS credentials

Smarter Design, Enhanced User Interface
The app is lightweight, efficient, and user-friendly, designed to minimize storage use and allow passengers to avoid installing multiple apps for different purposes. It offers a clean, clutter-free interface that makes navigation seamless even for first-time users.
One standout feature is its SSO capability, enabling users to log in using a single mPIN or biometric verification, instead of managing multiple passwords across apps.
Role of IRCTC Remains Crucial
While RailOne hosts multiple services, IRCTC will continue to manage all reserved ticket bookings, just as it currently does for over 100 million users via the IRCTC Rail Connect app. IRCTC’s commercial API is integrated into RailOne, allowing seamless and secure reservations without redirection.
Supporting Future-Ready Infrastructure
During the launch event, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also announced plans for a Modern Passenger Reservation System (PRS) by December 2025. This new PRS will support:
- Multilingual, agile, and scalable features
- Booking capacity of 1.5 lakh tickets per minute
- 40 lakh real-time queries per minute
- Seat selection, fare calendar, and Divyangjan-friendly options
Aligned with PM’s Vision of Digital Bharat
The RailOne app launch is part of the Indian Railways’ larger plan to digitize and democratize railway access for all citizens, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat”. It is a step toward positioning Indian Railways as a growth engine for Digital India, especially in mobility and logistics infrastructure.
