Bhopal: Senior IPS officer Anant Kumar Singh, currently posted as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) in Delhi, is set to return to his home cadre in Madhya Pradesh as Special Director General of Police (Special DGP), official sources confirmed on Tuesday.
Deputation Tenure Concludes in December
Singh, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, joined IOC on deputation in December 2020 for a three-year term, which was later extended by two years. His deputation ends on December 23, 2025, after which he will resume responsibilities in the state police.
Experienced Officer with Diverse Roles
Anant Kumar Singh has a long and distinguished service record. He has served as Superintendent of Police in key districts including Vidisha, Satna, and Bhopal. He has also completed a previous central deputation with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Likely to Replace Retiring Special DG Pawan Srivastava
Sources indicate that Singh is set to replace Pawan Kumar Srivastava, the Special DG (CID), who is scheduled to retire on December 31, 2025.
Currently, the post of Special DGP in the Madhya Pradesh Police is held by officers of the 1993 batch and earlier. Once Srivastava retires, officers from the 1994 batch, including Singh, are expected to be promoted — subject to the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) clearance, which has not yet convened.
Awaiting DPC for Full DG Elevation
While Singh’s elevation to the post of Special DG seems imminent, the formal promotion to Director General (DG) rank for the 1994 batch officers is pending DPC proceedings. Once approved, Singh could be among the next in line for further elevation.
