In a fresh administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening law and order, the Uttar Pradesh government has appointed IPS officer Ankita Sharma as the new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Badaun. Prior to this posting, she was serving as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Kasganj district.
Known for her proactive policing style, the 2018-batch IPS officer is widely regarded as a dynamic and efficient officer within the state police force.
Education and Early Life
Ankita Sharma hails from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Born on July 23, 1992, she completed her B.Tech in electrical engineering before pursuing a career in the civil services. Her father, Ashok Kumar Sharma, has been a strong influence in her journey.
After clearing the UPSC examination, she joined the Indian Police Service as part of the 2018 batch and has since served in several key policing roles across Uttar Pradesh.
Policing Career and Key Postings
Before her appointment in Badaun, Ankita Sharma served as SP of Kasganj, where she assumed charge on December 22, 2024. During her tenure, she handled several important criminal cases and closely monitored law and order situations in the district.
Earlier, she was posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South in the Kanpur Commissionerate. During her time there, multiple serious crime cases including murder and robbery were solved under her supervision. Several police operations against criminals were also conducted during this period.
In addition to law enforcement responsibilities, she was also given additional charge of the traffic department in Kanpur.
Role in Mission Shakti and Women’s Safety
Ankita Sharma has also served in Noida, where she actively led initiatives under the Mission Shakti campaign, a program focused on women’s safety and empowerment.
She has consistently maintained a firm stance against crimes targeting women and has implemented several awareness and policing measures to address such issues.
Now Leading Badaun Police
With her new appointment as SSP of Badaun, Ankita Sharma has been tasked with strengthening law and order in the district. Her experience in handling complex cases and managing sensitive situations is expected to play an important role in policing the region.
