Former Haryana Judicial Magistrate Ms. Anupama Yadav has drawn significant attention after announcing her plan to initiate a legal case against Mr. Ajay Chautala and Mr. Abhay Chautala. She recently appealed on social media for financial support to file a Rs. 100 crore claim, assuring contributors that their funds would be returned upon her victory. The announcement has sparked widespread interest in understanding the roots of this renewed legal confrontation.

Who Is Anupama Yadav?

Ms. Anupama Yadav, originally from Narnaul, Haryana, has served as a Judicial Magistrate and is the spouse of retired IPS officer Mr. Ram Singh Yadav. The family’s longstanding conflict with the Chautala brothers has resurfaced, intensifying after her public call for assistance.

The Origin of the Conflict

The dispute dates back nearly 22 years. Mr. Ram Singh Yadav, a 1988-batch IPS officer, had accused Mr. Abhay Chautala of physically assaulting him with 39 shoes during the Chautala-led government. The episode is rooted in an earlier case involving Mr. Ajay Chautala’s arrest from Rajasthan in a railway track demolition matter during the Bhajan Lal government.

Following the return of the INLD government, an FIR accusing Mr. Ram Singh Yadav of misusing a government vehicle was filed at Safido police station in Jind. On December 17, 2003, he was arrested by then SP Mr. Manjit Singh Ahlawat and DSP Mr. Samay Ram Kaushik. He alleged that upon being taken to the Chautala police station, Mr. Abhay Chautala subjected him to severe third-degree torture, including 39 kicks, which he claims derailed his professional and personal life.

Abhay Chautala’s Response

INLD National President Mr. Abhay Chautala has refuted the allegations and announced his intention to file a Rs. 100 crore defamation suit against the retired IPS officer. In response, Mr. Ram Singh Yadav has challenged him to proceed legally, stating that if proven wrong, he will pay Rs. 100 crore, but if proven right, the same amount must be paid by Mr. Chautala.

Media Silence and Renewed Public Interest

Ms. Anupama Yadav expressed concern that despite her husband’s detailed narrative, many newspapers avoided naming Mr. Abhay Chautala, allegedly due to political pressure or fear. Determined to pursue justice, she has begun a public fundraising campaign, transforming the matter into a broader conversation on accountability, citizen empowerment, and transparency in governance.
