The West Bengal government has appointed former West Bengal DGP Virendra (Retd.IPS:1985:WB) as the new State Information Commissioner (SIC). The meeting to select the new SIC was held at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s chamber at the state assembly.
There were 15 applications for the post and among them, 10 were found valid. Mr. Virendra’s name was proposed by the CM and backed by others.
