In a significant step for Madhya Pradesh’s policing framework, a renewed Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) convened in New Delhi on Friday, paving the way for the long-awaited elevation of five State Police Service (SPS) officers to the Indian Police Service (IPS). The high-level meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain, DGP Mr. Kailash Makwana, and ACS Home Mr. Sheo Shekhar Shukla, reflecting the state’s strong administrative commitment to transparency and merit-driven advancement.
Fifteen Officers from Madhya Pradesh Underwent Rigorous Review
A total of 15 officers from the 1997–1998 batches of Madhya Pradesh were evaluated during the comprehensive assessment. After detailed scrutiny of confidential records, eligibility criteria and service performance, five officers—Mr. Vikrant Murao, Mr. Rajesh Raghuwanshi, Mr. Surendra Kumar Jain, Mr. Ashish Khare, and Ms. Nimisha Pandey—emerged as the top contenders for IPS elevation. Senior officials indicated that the Government of India is likely to issue the formal promotion orders soon.
Fresh Start After September DPC Cancellation
This progress follows months of delays after the earlier DPC, held on September 12, was cancelled due to disputes related to service records. Acting on UPSC directions, the Madhya Pradesh Home Department annulled the previous proceedings and initiated a fresh review. The Police Headquarters, in coordination with the Home Department, re-examined Annual Confidential Reports of all 15 candidates, ensuring full compliance with procedural norms before presenting the cases in New Delhi.
Seniority Meets Scrutiny: Two Madhya Pradesh Officers Face Promotion Hurdles
While senior-most officers Mr. Sitaram Sasatya and Mr. Amrit Meena topped the list by seniority, ongoing departmental inquiries created uncertainties. Sources suggest that Mr. Amrit Meena has been granted provisional IPS status, whereas Mr. Sasatya’s case has been deferred until the next DPC, expected in two months. Should the pending matters remain unresolved, his promotion could be automatically cancelled.
Thorough Evaluation Reinforces Transparency in Madhya Pradesh’s Police Cadre
The officers considered for IPS elevation included Mr. Sitaram Sasatya, Mr. Amritlal Meena, Mr. Vikrant Murao, Mr. Surendra Kumar Jain, Mr. Ashish Khare, Mr. Rajesh Raghuwanshi, Ms. Nimisha Pandey, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Mishra, Mr. Malay Jain, Mr. Amit Saxena, Ms. Manisha Pathak Soni, Ms. Suman Gurjar, Mr. Savyasachi Saraf, Mr. Samar Verma and Mr. Satyendra Singh Tomar. The exercise reinforced Madhya Pradesh’s emphasis on clean, accountable and merit-based administrative practices.
A Positive Administrative Turn for Madhya Pradesh
The restructured DPC process has provided a transparent pathway for deserving officers while restoring confidence in the state’s promotion system. With the formal notification expected soon, Madhya Pradesh’s police leadership is set to gain fresh energy, enhanced capability and strengthened administrative discipline.
