2000 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, Mr. Jai Prakash Singh, has been made IGP, SR, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
Before this assignment, he served as the Inspector General at the Police Academy, Training and Research (Police Headquarters) in Shimla.
Mr. Singh hails from Teghra in the Manjhi block of Saran district.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Sociology from Patna University and a postgraduate degree in Police Management from Osmania University, Hyderabad.
Additionally, he has pursued higher education at IIM Lucknow and Cambridge University in England.
Before joining the Indian Police Service, he served as a short-term officer in the Indian Army.
