Major Police Shake-up in Assam: IPS Shwetank Mishra Posted as SP, Jorhat, Mohan Lal Meena as SP Bongaigaon

On February 21st, the government of Assam carried out a major reorganisation in its police force to enhance its operations and bolster its service delivery across the state. The transferred IPS officers are:

The Superintendent of Police (SP) in Goalpara, Mr. Veera Venkata Rakesh Reddy (2014 batch), shall assume charge as the new Superintendent of Police in Dibrugarh, replacing officer Shwetank Mishra (2015 batch), who has been posted as the SP in Jorhat.

The SP of Jorhat, Mr. Mohan Lal Meena (2016 batch), has been mandated to assume charge as the SP in Bongaigaon, replacing APS officer Swapnaneel Deka. 

The SP of Tamulpur, Mr. Pankaj Yadav (2017 batch), was appointed as SP of Barpeta, replacing APS officer Amitava Sinha. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Police Commissionerate, Guwahati, Mr. Akshat Garg (2017 batch), becomes the Superintendent of Railway Police in Pandu, Guwahati.

The Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) in Nalbari, Mr. Dinesh Kumar (2018 batch), has been asked to assume office as a Commandant.
