In a significant development, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced the promotion of 17 IPS officers. Five officers from the 2011 batch have been elevated to the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Grade, while twelve others have been promoted to the Selection Grade.
DIGP Promotions
According to the MHA order, the following officers have been promoted to the DIGP Grade (Level 13A in the Pay Matrix), effective from the date of assumption of charge:
- Maqsood-ul-Zaman
- Mubassir Latifi Ameer
- Shiv Kumar Sharma
- Rashmi Wazir
- Rajeshwar Singh
All five officers are from the 2011 batch of IPS officers.
Selection Grade Promotions
In a separate order, twelve IPS officers have been promoted to the Selection Grade (Level 13 in the Pay Matrix). Their promotions will be notionally effective from January 1, 2024, and January 1, 2025, with actual benefits applicable from the date of assuming their respective charges.
The promoted officers include:

- Rashmi Wazir
- Rajeshwar Singh
- Sandeep Wazir
- Anita Sharma
- Sameer Rekhi
- Jatinder Singh Johar

- Koshal Kumar Sharma
The orders were issued following the recommendations of a Screening Committee meeting held on December 19, 2024, and received approval from the Competent Authority.
This move is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to recognize the hard work and leadership qualities of officers, enhancing their responsibilities and roles in law enforcement.
