Retired IPS officer, Mr. V J Chandran, joined the ruling BJP in the presence of Puducherry BJP President, Mr. S Selvaganapathy and Home Minister A Namassivayam ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Mr. Chandran retired from the post of Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Puducherry in May 2023. However, speaking to media, he clarified, “I do not have any intention to contest the April 19 Lok Sabha polls in Puducherry.”
Mr. Chandran is a 2003-batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer who had earlier served as the Senior Superintendent of Police (Crime & Intelligence) in Puducherry and had even served as a top-level police officer in Mizoram.
