Mr. Gurinder Singh Dhillon, a 1997 batch IPS officer of the Punjab cadre, has taken Voluntary Retirement (VRS) after 34 years of service as a police officer. He was serving as the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) in the Punjab Police.
Mr Dhillon is from Mulianwal village in Gurdaspur district and is settled in Patiala at present.
After his retirement announcement, there was speculation about him joining politics. However, according to Mr. Dhillon, he has not yet decided to enter politics.
“I have taken VRS. I am feeling uncaged. Let’s see where the wind of destiny pollinates me,” he wrote in a post on X earlier.
He started his career as the deputy superintendent of police in Jalandhar. He also served at various positions in intelligence, anti-drug special task force, bureau of investigation and other wings.
