In Uttar Pradesh, 24 posts of Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre have been increased. These include 21 posts of IG, DIG and SP level in Lucknow and Gautam Budh Nagar commissionerate. Now the total number of IPS cadre posts in UP has increased from 517 to 541. According to the information, the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions have issued notification of increased posts. At the same time, the post of DG Prisons could not be accepted for IPS cadre.
In the past, the government had sent its proposal to the central government. However, all cadres will be considered as Cadre Review of 2019. At the same time, commissionerates have now been made in many cities of Uttar Pradesh. In such a situation, more number of IPS officers has been deployed here. There was a proposal to increase the posts of IPS cadre long back. Promotion from PPS to IPS has increased from 157 posts to 164 posts. Along with this, the posts of SP, IG and DIG have also been increased. With this, 8 cadre posts of ADG have been abolished.
The posts of Meerut, Bareilly, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Gorakhpur zones have been posted as ADG. The posts of ADG Crime, ADG Human Rights, ADG CBCID, ADG PTC Moradabad, ADG SIT and CID as well as ADG Training Headquarters have been abolished. Apart from this, IG will be posted in 8 ranges and DIG in 10 ranges out of 18 ranges. At the same time, DIG will be posted in PAC Ayodhya sector. This cadre review has happened after the year 2014, which was proposed in the year 2019.
