IPS Officers’ Asset Declarations Reveal Sharp Property Value Fluctuations in Uttar Pradesh

DIG’s Property Value Drops from ₹10 Crore to ₹3.2 Crore in a Year
Indian Masterminds Stories

Lucknow: Recent asset declarations submitted by IPS officers to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) have revealed striking changes in property valuations, including sharp depreciation as well as rapid appreciation in some cases. The disclosures were made following a central government directive requiring IAS and IPS officers to submit details of their movable and immovable assets by January 31.

One of the most notable cases involves a DIG-rank officer posted in Uttar Pradesh, whose property valuation has dropped dramatically within a year.

Sanjeev Tyagi Remains Wealthiest IPS Officer in UP Despite Sharp Decline

The DIG of Basti range, Sanjeev Tyagi, continues to be the wealthiest IPS officer in Uttar Pradesh, owning five properties collectively valued at around ₹30 crore, despite a steep fall in the declared value of one of his major assets.

Tyagi owns 0.838 hectares of land in Sadar, Ghaziabad, which he purchased in 2010 for ₹40 lakh, spending an additional ₹11 lakh on construction. In his 2025 asset declaration, the property was valued at ₹10 crore. However, in his 2026 declaration, the same property has been valued at just ₹3.2 crore, indicating a drop of nearly ₹7 crore within a year.

Another Ghaziabad Property Loses Half Its Value

Tyagi also owns another plot in Modinagar, Ghaziabad, measuring 0.356 hectares, purchased in 2015 for ₹50 lakh. According to the latest declaration, the property is now valued at ₹26 lakh, showing a significant depreciation over 11 years.

Sambhal SP Buys ₹4 Crore House in Rajasthan

Sambhal SP Krishna Kumar, who had not declared ownership of any property in 2025, reported the purchase of a residential property in Rajasthan in 2026.

  • Purchase price: ₹3.40 crore
  • Current value: ₹4 crore
  • Date of purchase: January 27, 2025
  • Ownership: Jointly owned with his brother and sister
  • Annual rental income: Approximately ₹4.8 lakh
  • Status: Mortgaged

The property has appreciated by nearly ₹60 lakh within a year.

Muzaffarnagar SP’s Property Appreciates 1.5 Times in Six Months

Muzaffarnagar SP Sanjeev Suman, who also had no declared property in 2025, reported a plot in Lucknow purchased on June 6, 2025, for ₹20 lakh. Within just six months, the value of the plot has increased to ₹30 lakh, marking a 1.5-times appreciation.

IG-Rank Officers’ Property Details

Jhansi range IG Akash Kulhari purchased 240 square metres of land in Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, for ₹15 lakh last year. He also jointly owns a house in Jaipur with his brother.

IG K. Aguilarson, currently posted with UP-112, has declared ownership of 14 properties, up from 13 properties in 2025.
