New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Ruchika Rishi (IPS:2004:SK) has been appointed as Additional Director of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), according to an official order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on April 8.
Rishi, who is currently serving as Inspector General/Director at the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), will take on her new role on a deputation basis, effective from the date she assumes charge. Her appointment will be valid until the completion of her combined deputation tenure of five years ending April 9, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
A 2004-batch IPS officer from the Sikkim cadre, Ruchika Rishi brings extensive experience in policing, research, and law enforcement administration. Her appointment to WCCB is expected to strengthen efforts in combating wildlife crime and ensuring better coordination between agencies involved in conservation and enforcement.
The WCCB functions under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and plays a crucial role in curbing illegal wildlife trade and related offences across the country.
