New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of inter-cadre deputation of IPS officer Sarah Afzal Ahmed Rizvi from the Gujarat cadre to the AGMUT cadre, posted in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, for an additional period of two years.
The extension will be effective beyond October 20, 2025, according to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. The move was recommended by the Ministry of Home Affairs and is based on grounds of personal hardship cited by the officer.
About IPS Officer Sarah Afzal Ahmed Rizvi
Ms Rizvi is a 2008 batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre. She has been serving in the AGMUT cadre, which includes Jammu and Kashmir, and has garnered recognition for her administrative and policing expertise. The ACC approval comes after due consideration by the competent authority.
The decision has been communicated to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of Gujarat, and other relevant offices for necessary action and record. The order was signed in New Delhi by the Director of DoPT on behalf of the ACC.

Other Key Appointments Notified
In related notifications issued on December 17, 2025, the following appointment has been announced:
Karamjeet Kaur (IES: 2012), previously serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Defence Production, has been re-designated as Director in the same department.
Her central deputation tenure is effective from November 22, 2024, and will continue up to November 22, 2029.
These notifications reflect ongoing administrative and personnel adjustments in the central government to strengthen governance and departmental leadership.
