About RPF
The Railway Protection Force (RPF), a central armed police force of India, is tasked with ensuring the safety of railway property and passengers. Traditionally, the leadership of this crucial security force has been dominated by male officers. But, in a landmark development, IPS Mishra is set to become the first woman Director General of the RPF. While several IPS women officers have held top positions in forces like the CRPF, BSF, and CISF, her appointment marks the first time a woman will lead a railway-centric force – making it a significant milestone in India’s security services.
