Ircon International Limited (IRCON), a prominent infrastructure public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has secured a major contract worth ₹253.56 crore from the South Western Railway. The project involves the deployment of the indigenously developed KAVACH train collision avoidance system across key railway divisions in Karnataka.
As per the stock exchange filing made by IRCON on Tuesday, the contract covers the survey, design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the KAVACH system and associated works across 778 route kilometers (RKM). The implementation will span the Bengaluru and Mysuru Divisions of South Western Railway.
The contract is categorized as a domestic works contract and must be executed within 18 months from the issuance of the Letter of Acceptance (LOA). IRCON confirmed that the contract does not involve any related party transactions, and neither its promoter nor group companies have any vested interest in the awarding entity.
