New Delhi: In a significant move, Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Vikas Singh has been appointed as the Government Nominee Director on the board of Oil India Limited (OIL), one of India’s leading Maharatna Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under the administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG).
Mr Singh is a 2007-batch IRS officer currently serving as Director in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
Regulatory Filing Confirms Appointment
The appointment was disclosed through a regulatory filing made by Oil India Limited. The PSU stated that the competent authority has approved the nomination of Vikas Singh as the Government Nominee Director on its board.
“The Board of the company will induct him as Government Nominee Director in due course in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 and the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015,” Oil India said in the official communication.
Strengthening Governance at Oil India
Mr Singh’s induction is seen as a step toward enhancing governance and policy alignment at OIL, especially as the energy sector continues to evolve in response to global energy transition challenges and domestic exploration and production priorities.
As a senior IRS officer with experience in both revenue administration and policymaking, Singh is expected to contribute meaningfully to the strategic direction of the company.
