New Delhi: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Wednesday announced the transfer and posting orders for 18 senior officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) in the rank of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) and Director General of Income Tax (DGIT). The new postings, aimed at strengthening leadership in key income tax regions, come into effect immediately, with a few exceptions tied to retirements or pending promotions.
Strategic Reassignments Across Key Regions
The reshuffle includes senior positions across major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhopal, and Chennai. Among the key changes-

- Sushil Kumar Madhuk has moved from CCIT, Panaji to CCIT, Ahmedabad-1, while Rajesh Kumar Gupta shifts to CCIT, Ahmedabad-2 from Rajkot.
These moves indicate a focused effort by the CBDT to reinforce regional tax administration by placing experienced officers in strategically important zones.

Additional Changes: Regional Leadership and Successions
Some appointments are contingent on upcoming retirements-

Divya Bajpai, Vikram Sahay, and Dr. Sarita Mishra Kolhe have been posted to key CCIT positions in Vadodara, Mumbai-9, and Thane, respectively.
Tajinder Pal Singh takes charge as CCIT, Kolkata-3, and Jayaram Raipura will serve as CCIT, Vijayawada.
Devarathna Kumar Kallur and Nausheen Jahan Ansari have been posted to Raipur and Indore, respectively.
These appointments are seen as part of a broader effort to maintain administrative continuity and boost performance in both core and investigative functions of the tax department.
Observers Welcome the Move
Experts note that these transfers reflect CBDT’s intent to bring in operational reforms and deploy officers with a track record of administrative effectiveness to crucial roles. With increasing digitization, compliance monitoring, and litigation management responsibilities, leadership at the CCIT and DGIT levels is vital to ensuring efficient taxpayer services and revenue enforcement.
