New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has approved the deputation of Mr. Rajeev Kumar Gangele, a 2002-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE), to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) as General Manager (Signal & Telecommunication). He will be posted at Secunderabad for a period of five years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
A formal order to this effect was issued by Mr. Ravi Shekhar, Joint Secretary (D), Railway Board, on July 25, 2025, addressed to the General Manager of South Central Railway, Secunderabad. The order instructs that Mr. Gangele be relieved to assume his new responsibilities at RVNL without delay.
Role in Strengthening Railway Infrastructure
In his new role as GM (S&T), Mr. Gangele will oversee crucial operations related to signaling and telecommunication systems, a core area in railway infrastructure development and safety. RVNL plays a central role in implementing key rail development projects across India, and Mr. Gangele’s technical background is expected to bolster the execution of signal modernization and digitalization initiatives.
Terms of Deputation
Mr. Gangele will serve under the standard deputation terms, which include retention of parent cadre pay along with applicable deputation allowances. The order mentions that these terms are subject to the government’s approval of an exemption from the immediate absorption rule, which typically governs deputation to Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) like RVNL.
Wider Communication and Coordination
The Railway Board has also circulated the order to senior railway leadership, including the Chairman and Managing Director of RVNL, the Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, and directors from various departments. This step ensures seamless coordination between South Central Railway, where Mr. Gangele currently serves, and RVNL, his new organization.
The deputation aligns with the Ministry’s broader strategy of leveraging in-house expertise to drive efficiency, modernize operations, and support the expansion of India’s rail network.
