Jabalpur: Returning from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Friday announced that Jabalpur will be declared a Metropolitan City this year. Addressing industrialists and traders at a program held at Hotel Kalchuri, CM Yadav emphasized that Jabalpur, as one of Madhya Pradesh’s major urban centers, will join Indore and Bhopal, which have already been designated as metropolitan cities.
Master Plan for Jabalpur’s Comprehensive Development
The Chief Minister outlined plans for a comprehensive master plan for Jabalpur’s development, which will cover a 50-kilometer radius around the city, integrating surrounding towns. The master plan aims to ensure coordinated growth of industrial, commercial, and infrastructural sectors, positioning Jabalpur as a major economic hub.
CM Yadav highlighted the city’s rapid growth and announced upcoming initiatives in the food and garment sectors. He further noted the untapped potential in tourism, healthcare, and agriculture, which will be systematically developed under this master plan.

Madhya Pradesh stood out among 10 participating states, attracting global investors in renewable energy.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state now offers electricity at just ₹2.10 per unit through wind and solar energy, making it the cheapest power among Indian states.
121 Couples Married Under CM Kanya Vivah & Nikah Scheme
In another significant development, CM Yadav presided over a mass marriage ceremony at Sadar Garrison Ground, where 121 couples—including 118 Hindu couples and 3 Muslim couples—were married.
The Chief Minister blessed the newlyweds and presented a symbolic ₹51,000 cheque to one couple. Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda extended his congratulations, while Minister Rakesh Singh gifted a refrigerator to each couple. Several local representatives, including MPs, MLAs, and civic officials, participated in the ceremony.
