In a monumental victory against international organized crime, the Jalandhar Rural Police have dismantled a UK-based extortion syndicate, arresting 10 key operatives, including foreign handlers and local criminals. The operation also led to the recovery of seven illegal firearms, 18 cartridges, and several vehicles.
The preliminary investigations have revealed that the syndicate was running a complex cross-border operation, with key figures based in the UK, Greece, and Manila, directing extortion activities and shootings across Punjab.
Additionally, the Punjab Police uncovered a weapons procurement network operating out of Madhya Pradesh, further disrupting the syndicate’s operations. So far, 14 cases of extortion and shootings have been resolved, significantly weakening the foreign-backed crime network in the state.
The police are continuing to trace the financial networks supporting these criminal activities and will pursue all leads to ensure that everyone involved is brought to justice.
