Ranchi: The Jharkhand government is prioritizing development in areas recently freed from Maoist influence, providing essential infrastructure and services such as roads, healthcare, clean drinking water, and security. Special central assistance along with state funds are being utilized to ensure that rural communities in these regions receive timely benefits.
Development in Maoist-Free Areas
The government is implementing multiple initiatives in regions that have been cleared of Maoist control, including SaraiKela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, Khunti, and other areas. Focus areas include:
- Road construction for improved connectivity
- Establishing healthcare facilities
- Ensuring safe and clean drinking water
- Strengthening security arrangements
Officials emphasize that addressing long-standing feelings of insecurity among residents is a top priority, alongside providing essential services.

Budha Pahad Development Project
The Budha Pahad Development Project is currently underway, covering areas that were freed from Maoist influence in 2022-23. Other cleared regions include Parasnath and Bulbul forests. The government’s aim is to integrate every resident into development programs and uplift living standards.

- Number of Schemes: 175
- Beneficiaries: Approximately 5,500 families across 11 villages in Tehri and Haseen Panchayats
Finance Minister Reviews Progress
Jharkhand Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore recently visited Budha Pahad to review security and development initiatives. During his visit, he met local officials, BDOs, COs, and Panchayat heads to ensure smooth implementation of projects.
Key priorities include:
- Construction of roads, schools, and hospitals
- Provision of electricity and sanitation facilities
- Ensuring all rural households have access to basic amenities
The government aims to make travel easier, improve education and healthcare access, and enhance overall quality of life in Maoist-free areas.
Government’s Focus on Inclusive Growth
The Budha Pahad Project reflects the state’s broader strategy to transform former Maoist-affected regions through:
