The Jharkhand government has transferred IFS Rajneesh Kumar due to administrative reasons. The state’s Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Department has officially issued the order regarding his transfer.
Mr. Rajneesh Kumar, who was previously serving as the Forest Division Officer in Bokaro, has now been posted as the Deputy Conservator of Forests in the Tribal Area (Ranchi). The decision comes in the backdrop of legal complications involving the officer.
Contempt Proceedings in Tetulia Land Dispute
Mr. Rajneesh Kumar has been embroiled in a high-profile legal case related to the Tetulia land dispute. The Jharkhand High Court had earlier held both Mr. Rajneesh Kumar and another official, Mr. Venkateswarlu, guilty of contempt. The case revolves around contradictory claims made in court—at one point, the land in question was described as protected forest, while at another time, it was claimed to be private forest land.
In response to the High Court’s ruling, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the contempt conviction. The Supreme Court has granted a stay on the sentencing, and the matter is currently under consideration.
The transfer order is seen as part of a broader administrative move, although the pending court case adds a layer of complexity to the development.
